I noticed this Pardus forums earlier, some people have really put some time into coming up with this formula (Owen Hunter (orion)and Kilian (pegasus).

Anyway, I just stole their formula and put it into a spreadsheet that can do the following:

* Tell you what gains you get from a certain amount of rounds vs. a certain NPC

* Tell you how many APs you need to gain a certain amount of skills

* Tell you the APcosts to acure a certain amount of ASPs

I have just finished (in Orion) an extensive series of test runs of retreat chances against Euryale Swarmlings. In summary, the number of attacks that one makes prior to retreating makes no difference to the chances of a successful retreat. Maneuver makes no difference to the chances of a successful retreat. The only skill that affect retreat chances is Tactics.

Following are some summaries of tests:

Ambushes are one of the most efficient combat approaches in Pardus. Instead of trying to catch your enemy in open space and of guard, you find out his location and set an ambush on a tile they are likely to fly through, to try and send them home in a pod.

It is important to always have a retreat point set. For that you need an ambush teleporter (ship equipment) and it has to be done within 10 minutes of laying the ambush.

When laying ambush you can specify a lot of settings, such as attack ...

Advanced Strategic Combat - Improving Coordination

When you are coordinating an assault towards another alliance or faction (in case of war) and you expect a lot of resistance, there are a good many ways to improve on your performance as a team. The following is a list of useful suggestions:

1. Communications:

Arrange for either TeamSpeak or another Voice Communications (perhaps Skype) to be installed and ready on all participants. Communication is absolutely vital for a good operation.

Skilling Guide - Feel Free to Contribute

I think a few tips on increasing skills in a fast and efficient manner is important so here are a few notes.

Overskilling:

First of all, it is important to note that skills and experience go hand in hand.

Should you spend all your time skilling without ever killing a creature, you would soon exceed your skill limits as dictated by your XP.

The Fearsome Ship Calculator ([Pardus Manual - Links - Data Vault - Fearsome ship Calculator]) contains ...

Unpack the images.zip to another folder named "images" (this goes automaticly if I'm correct)

this is what you have now:
